This prolific UK-based artist has been known to decorate the mind's deepest recesses with his virtually psychedelic washes of electronic haze, tidal hum, flecks of surrealism, minimalistic piano works and a touch of extremely lopsided humour which teeters close to the edge of being dangerous. Utilising a variety of outside elements, ranging from live instruments to children's voices and what sound like ancient, crackling 78s, Andrew Liles succeeds in creating a wonderful soundworld where, quite literally, anything can happen. Besides having an interesting number of releases eternally growing behind him, which can all be viewed on his website, he is also known for his collaborative work with artists as diverse as Darren Tate, Danielle Dax, Edward Ka-Spel, David Tibet, Jean-herve Peron and Tony Wakeford. During more recent years, he joined Nurse With Wound and debuted on their live 'Soundpooling' album (on Colin Potter's ICR imprint) besides becoming a permanent member of the performing version of the Steve Stapleton-fronted group. He has also subsequently joined Current 93 plus, in 2010, launched a series of records and artefacts under the 'Monster' guise which looks set to continue for a considerable while yet and is found being often supported by our good friends at Dirter. In 2008, Andrew Liles released the 'Auto Manipulator' LP on LTCo. Limited to 300 that sold out very swiftly, it is a 15 track conceptual recording about an imaginary machine designed to feed all human sexual desire and wants, irrespective of boundaries. Another release has been mooted by Andrew Liles for LTCo, too, so expect some news in due course.
